OUTDOOR ADVENTURE
Atwood Lake and Park
- Atwood is one of the state's top lakes for sailing and pleasure
boating. Atwood Park features a wide, sandy beach, vending area, changing room with
showers, playground, picnic area and picnic shelters. |
Franklin Park
- Located directly behind the hotel, Franklin Park features a 1 mile
walking/running track, playgrounds, baseball diamonds, & the Strasburg HS football stadium. |
Holmes County Trail
- The Trail is open from Fredericksburg to Millersburg
(12 miles). One lane of the trail is paved with asphalt for biking, roller-blading,
walking, running, and wheelchairs, while the other lane is paved with "chip and seal"
for horse-drawn vehicles and horseback riding. |
Norma Johnson Center (Conservation & Nature Preserve)
- Open from dawn to dusk. Hike on the marked trails, observe wildlife, enjoy birding, view
wildflowers, and more. In the winter enjoy bird migration,
winter hiking and building snowmen. Many activities possible any season of the year. |
NTR Canoe Livery
- Canoeing, Kayaking, Tubing, Camping and Fishing on the Tuscarawas River. Located
approximately 5 miles north of the hotel. |
Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail
- More than 60 miles of the Towpath
has been developed for recreational use into a multipurpose trail, with the closest section
to the hotel being Between Zoar & Bolivar.

The Wilderness Center
- Hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Closed Mondays.
This 619-acre site has six trails where you can see forest, meadows, prairie, wetlands, creeks,
wilderness lake and a pond. The Headquarters includes the Center's Interpretive
Building, Astronomy Education Building, and picnic facilities. |
Wolf Timbers Wildlife Sanctuary
- Open the first and last Sunday of every month starting May 2 through October 31,
from 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. For other times, by appointment only; private tours can
be arranged for groups larger than 5 people.
